The Climate and Sustainability Risk Manager understands and collects Climate Risk data, building quant models to perform analysis to understand and visualise impacts and vulnerabilities’ on ING assets.

This is a greenfields opportunity at ING Australia and one of the few integrative risk roles in the country offering this area of focus and scope for you to grow your risk and data science career.

The Regulators are also focused on the climate risks to the wider Australian Banking system. Assessing exposure to climate-related risks is challenging for the industry and this role will own and be responsible for understanding the relevant, evolving regulatory requirements for ING. This will be achieved through the development and maintenance of (regulatory) risk models that ensure ING meets the requirements of Australian Prudential Standards and as subsidiary of a global European, ECB regulations.

This is a role to grow into your own with support from a wider team of risk and data science professionals, local and global peers with experience to share and a wide, varied position description.


What are you going to do? You will be…

  • Building relationships with external and internal data providers/sources
  • Interacting with a wide range of stakeholders across the business
  • Linking various data sources, performing data analytics, creating visualisation of data patterns
  • Setting-up a climate change risk framework, developing climate risk measurement methodology and positioning ING Australia’s climate risk appetite.
  • Implementing respective standards into day-to-day activities
  • Taking ownership for the work you do, including presenting and obtaining understanding and approval in the relevant committees.
  • Continuing to learn from the models and process to refine, adapt and improve our analysis accordingly.

What are we looking for? Someone who has…

  • Advanced SAS and SQL Knowledge and statistical quant abilities. Other programming languages like Python would be useful
  • Risk framework management
  • Knowledge of risk related regulations and the regulatory environment. Knowledge of prudential standards related to modelling and climate risk especially helpful
  • Ideally, experience in a risk analytics role, actuarial analytics, or equivalent, preferably within banking/insurance services
  • Confidence in presenting to all levels to Exco, with sound written and verbal ability.
